Kitchen renovation in Dubai: what decides the cost
A kitchen is a joinery job with plumbing and power attached, and it is priced by decisions rather than by area. Here is what moves the number, what belongs in the quote, and how to get an indicative range.

What moves the number
Five decisions, taken before anyone measures
Length of run tells you very little on its own. A kitchen is priced by whether the services move, what the carcass and the fronts are made of, which worktop you choose and who supplies the appliances. Settle those five and two contractors can finally quote the same thing.
Whether the layout moves
Leave the sink, hob and appliances where they are and the job stays joinery and finishes. Move them and you add drainage falls, new circuits and, in a tower, an approval.
Carcass, front and hardware
The board the box is made from, the material on the door and the hinges behind it are three separate decisions. Two kitchens that look alike in a showroom rarely share all three.
Worktop and splashback
Laminate, engineered stone, sintered surface or natural stone. The material sets the template-and-fit sequence, and the sequence sets the programme.
Appliances and extraction
Who supplies the appliances, and whether the hood recirculates or ducts to an existing outlet, changes the scope far more than the brand on the front does.
Lead time
Made-to-order fronts and imported units arrive on their own schedule. A kitchen quote without a delivery window is half a quote.
What a real quote contains
A materials schedule, not a single line
“Supply and install kitchen” is not a quote. The version you can compare names the carcass, the front, the worktop and the hardware, says who supplies the appliances, lists what is excluded, and gives a delivery window alongside the payment schedule.

Mostly none — until the services move
A like-for-like kitchen rarely needs a permit. The moment water, drainage or a new circuit moves, that changes, and in a tower the building has a view as well. General information, not advice: Briked records what you agreed and when, and does not file applications.
Moving water or drainage
A kitchen that stays where it is usually needs no permit. Adding a dishwasher point or relocating the sink changes the drainage, which in most buildings means an approval and sometimes a municipality one.

In an apartment the building sets the lift booking and the delivery window. A made-to-order kitchen that arrives outside it waits, so confirm the window before the fabrication date is fixed.

Common questions
How long does a kitchen renovation take in Dubai?
Two clocks run at once. On site the work is short; the fabrication lead time on made-to-order fronts, and the worktop template that can only happen after the cabinetry is installed, are what set the date. Ask for both in the programme.
Can I keep my existing appliances?
Usually, if the openings suit them. Cut-outs are made to specific models, so the appliance list has to be fixed before fabrication starts. A late change to a hob or an oven is a new worktop, not an adjustment.
Do I need approval to change my kitchen?
Not normally for a like-for-like replacement. Moving the sink, adding a dishwasher point or running a new circuit changes that, and in an apartment the building will want to approve the works and the contractor regardless.
Why is there no price per metre here?
Because a metre of kitchen is not a unit of anything until the carcass, the front, the worktop and the appliances are chosen. An indicative range from a contractor who has seen your photographs is more useful than a rate, and a range is not a price.
What should a kitchen quote contain?
A survey dimension or a note that one is outstanding, a materials schedule covering carcass, front, worktop and hardware, who supplies the appliances, what is excluded, a delivery window and a payment schedule.
